Just as I start to feel hopeful and think I can see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel I see a news broadcast covering the South Carolina Freedom Summit. I sit down to listen to the prospective candidates and I can't get beyond what I see. Everything that I had planned to listen to is hopelessly overpowered by the backdrop behind the podium where each speaker is slated to stand and deliver their speeches of hope for the future. Front and center behind the podium is a crescent moon. The symbol of the religion of Islam. Why would anyone select a well known Islamic symbol and place it front in center in the faces of God believing, conservative minded, traditionally evangelical Republican supporters? It's certainly not as obscure as the crescent and star seen in the signage at the Democratic Convention of 2012. The crescent moon is just about the only graphic on this backdrop.



I submit that it is intentional. I implore you, pray for the return of Jesus and for the protection of Israel. Pray for his return soon. The message has been sent to all Americans. God is no longer the foundation of our government. This message has been sent quite overtly and it has been received loud and clear. My wife has been somewhat reluctant to move into the smartphone arena - reluctant is an understatement; I had to drag her kicking and screaming into the 21st century. She had been completely satisfied with her Nokia flip phone and her "Circle of 5" calling plan with T-Mobile. She has been a faithful T-Mobile subscriber for an awfully long time. She could have chosen a lot worse. They at least have dependable network. The issue that I had with her staying with the current setup were three nagging reasons to give up the flip phone and get off the "Circle of 5 plan", to a new more affordable T-Mobile calling plan with a lot more to offer.

• Circle of 5 Calling Plan - only 5 people you can call unlimited calling. That plan was almost prehistoric.
• Nokia flip phone's age - it was over 6 years old. No QWERTY keyboard obviously.
• Switching to a smartphone saved around $10/month. It was a no brainer.

So I began searching for a phone that I could buy outright and wouldn't break my budget. I wanted to stay with an Android based OS because I am most familiar with Android so I could offer a little technical support as she learned the features. I discovered the Galaxy Light while searching Google for inexpensive Samsung smartphones. I was astonished at the positive reviews that this little powerhouse of a phone was getting. It had been overshadowed by the release of the Galaxy 4 then the new Galaxy 5 and was kind of pushed to the back of the smartphone group.


I came across a comment on a review of the phone and in reading the comment about the low cost, little known, $40/month starter plan that was offered by T-Mobile I decided that was the way to go. I knew that the Galaxy Light could be unlocked easily and used on AT&T, Straight Talk or even GSM if the need arose so to read about this starter plan that provided unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 500MB of data with a cap so there are no overage fees if you use too much data - I was sold. I ordered the Galaxy Light off Amazon.com for $119 + taxes and shipping (around $150 total) and a $3 rubberized case.

It took about 4 days to receive the phone and another 3-4 days for the case. The phone came in an unopened Samsung for T-Mobile box with some accessories. My wife decided that she would play with the phone in WiFi mode until the case arrived and then we would go to T-Mobile and have her current number ported over and sign her up for the new calling plan. The young man at the T-Mobile store was extremely helpful and in no time the new phone was active. No waiting for the number to propagate, it was instantaneous. It may have been that since the number was already registered through T-Mobile it was a particularly fast activation. We were surprised that the total was approximately $43.38/month. We lowered her cell bill, gave her a whole new host of additional features and owned the phone outright all without signing a long term contract.



It has been great for her. She has really taken to the phone very easily. With the availability of WiFi these days I don't think we will ever out grow the 500MB limit. She has had the service and the phone for almost a month now and she has used 2.1MB out of her 500MB limit so far. As for the Galaxy Light phone, she loves it. I can remember when I was a kid always being kind of "in tune" with things going on around me. When I was in my pre-teens I can remember dreaming a dream then at some point in the future reliving that dream just as I had dreamed it. Some people call it Dj vu. D頩j vu means "already seen", as in having the strong sensation that an event or experience currently being experienced had been experienced before. This sensation was usually brought on by a trigger of some kind. The trigger might be driving down a particular street and seeing something along the way that I remembered seeing before - only in a dream. Curiously though, I had never been on that particular street before. I had these experiences often. So often that I was cognizant of these experiences - even at a young age.

All my life I have had strange unexplainable phenomena following me. I remember once that I had a premonition that I was going to be caught doing something that I was not supposed to do. Sure enough, I attempted to do something that I was not allowed to do and I ended up breaking something in the process - just as I had forseen - and ended up paying the consequenses just as my premonition had revealed. I was one of those kids who grew up believing that, "if anyone is going to get caught doing something wrong it'll be me".

These dreams and precognitive experiences that I was having became a "self imposed" restraint that kept me on the straight and narrow through my teens. I came across a blog with some really easy suggestions and examples on how to make your movie playable on DVD players. This is what you'll need - and both software packages are free:

• DVD Flick - available at www.dvdflick.net



• ImgBurn - available at www.imgburn.com

• 1. Create your Windows Movie Maker file and publish it to your hard drive.



• 2. Convert the Movie (WMV) to DVD format using DVD Flick



• 3. Burn the DVD files to DVD with imgburn

Once your DVD burner is finished you can put it in your DVD player and watch your slideshow on your TV. There is also a setting in DVD Flick to set your screen resolution. You can set it for wide view TVs the 16:9 widescreen setting is there. All of this exercise that I just described to you is a shady marketing system either operated by media crawler or an affiliate of media crawler to direct unsuspecting users to purchase their software. I think it is deplorable and deceptive. It is typical of "bait and switch" tactics that are used elsewhere on the world wide web. Apparently the credit card processor for Media Crawler is Avangate at www.avangate.com. They are refusing refunds in behalf of Media Crawler. This is also an unacceptable and unlawful practice on the part of Avangate. It's hard to believe that a online game that was released when most of the gamers of the day connected by dial-up modem. The gameplay by modem connection was surprisingly responsive. With multiple servers now hosting games and the increase of internet speeds in general the Tribes One gaming experience has gotten better.



As mentioned above, there have been new releases of Tribes. Tribes Two released in 2001 with an attempt to sharpen the graphics and add new scenery to the gaming experience. With the added graphics load the game suffered in speed. Several independent game developors modded the code and consequently sped the gamplay up substantially. Tribes Two still has a following especially since it was released as a free download shortly after its' retail release.

Tribes Vengeance was released in late 2004 with a totally new game experience. The code was rewritten on the Unreal engine and retained its' signature player experience from the Tribes One release. Like it's two predessors Vengeance was highly promoted but was not received by the gaming community in spite of the upgrade in enviroment and maps. Vengeance was the pinnacle of graphics make over for the Tribes Franchise.

Enter the newest release, Tribes Ascend released by Hi-Rez Studios in April of 2012. In October of 2010 it was announced that Hi-Rez Studios would be the new owner of the Tribes franchise. I personally have not been able to play Ascend because of the older PC that I currently play Tribes One, Tribes Two and have played Vengeance on. I have to say that what I have seen of Ascend looks really promising especially considering other popular games that I feel are a total ripoff - Halo - of Tribes don't have that all important signature control that is the centerpiece of Tribes - The abilty to fly using your jetpack.

Jetpacks and the ability to fly first introduced in Tribes One has made gameplay a real challenge. Flying and targeting players in-air takes a lot of practice. Not only does a player have to be aware of energy in his jetpack but also has to account for the arc of the projectile that he is firing. This one signature ability makes the Tribes experience unique. I would suggest you check it out.
